Adam Wainwright
Adam Wainwright
Baseball
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright was originally drafted in the first round by the Atlanta Braves in 2000, but traded to the Cardinals in 2003, a trade which the Braves no doubt soon came to regret. Waino quickly became a pivotal player in Cardinals organization, helping the organization win two World Series. Throughout his career Adam has remained one of the most important pitchers for the Cardinals, finishing in the top 5 in Cy Young voting four times. In 2014, he became the first pitcher in Major League history to post nine of his first 18 starts with seven innings pitched and no runs allowed.

With nearly 1,500 strikeouts in his career to date, Wainwright is third to Bob Gibson (3,117) & Chris Carpenter (1,697) in Cardinals franchise history. He is currently signed through 2018.
