A Good Race

by Clara Grandt on June 25, 2012

A good race is really so relative.  I’m looking forward to have a good race at the USA Half Marathon Championships in Duluth, MN this weekend, June 16th.  However, when I say, I am looking forward to a good race, who knows what that means for me?  The point is, a good race can mean so many things to different people, even at different times. Many times I have gone into a race with very objective thoughts of what a good race would be.  I have a time goal, a place goal, and being competitive, I don’t think I’ll ever not have those objec...

An Unexpected Inspiration

by Clara Grandt on May 24, 2012

There are quite a few people that are inspiring to me.  Anyone that accomplishes something big or goes for huge goals without any holding back can be easily inspiring.  There are names in distance running like Deena Kastor, Shalane Flanagan, and Desiree Davila, to give a few examples that show top levels of dedication and hard work paying off.  Then there are the people in our everyday personal lives that are inspiring… my coach, teammates, my mom…  and I’ve even been inspired by my little sister, lately.I went to visit my hometown recently to ...

My Kind of Fun!

by Clara Grandt on February 20, 2012

These past few weeks have been a completely different post-marathon experience than Boston.  After Boston, I tried to tell myself I was recovering just fine, but I wasn’t.  I was physically broken down and mentally exhausted.  This time, I’m eager and ready to take on new goals and improve.  I have been looking forward to these new goals since I crossed the finish line in Houston.  I did take time off, but since I’ve started up again, I’ve felt more like I’m building on something instead of rebuilding. With my body and mind ...

Just Getting Started

by Clara Grandt on January 26, 2012

The Olympic Marathon Trials are over, and life is still going on.  Imagine that!  A big race can have a funny affect on the mind of a runner, and this one was the biggest I have ever experienced.   The training that goes into it is such a big build up, and that one day, race day, is such a big focus that we don’t think much past the race.  It seems to be the end of life as we know it… It’s not!  The few days before the race seemed quite full of activities.  As soon as I arrived in Houston, I went straight to Fleet Feet for a ...
