Mizuno Athletes Excel At The Boston Marathon
by Harper Cornell on April 19, 2011
Running in the first Marathon of her life, Clara Grandt finished 3rd American Woman (16th Place) in the 2011 Boston Marathon. Clara's time of 2:29.54 (5:43 per mile average) is one of the fastest American Women's debut marathon times and puts Clara in the elite group of American Women vying for a spot on the 2012 US Olympic Marathon Team. Clara ran a negative split (second half of the course faster than the first half). Halfway, Clara's time was 1:15.00 and the second 13.1 miles was 1:14.54. Finishing in 18 place and 4th American, was Jen Houck in a time of 2:34.28, which was a 3 minute improvement at the marathon distance. Last year at Boston, Jen was 3rd American in 2:39.02. The Mizuno Japan Singlets that Clara and Jen wore will be autographed and auctioned off on E-Bay to raise funds for the Japan Relief Fund. Both athletes wore a Japan Flag Pin on their singlets.
Mizuno congratulates both Clara and Jen on their inspiring performance!
