Craig Leon Wins The Jackson Mississippi Blues Marathon
by Ron Wayne on January 5, 2013
Mizuno Racing Team Member, Craig Leon, had two goals in mind when he toed the starting line of the Jackson Mississippi Blues Marathon. One was to win the race and the second was to break the course record of 2:18.00. Craig accomplished both of his goals! Last year, Craig competed in two elite marathon races (US Olympic Trials and World Major, Chicago Marathon) where he finished both in personal bests of 2:15. It was time to race a Tier B Marathon and go for the win. Running in a group of 10 through 16 miles, Craig broke away in the last 10K and won going away in a time of 2:16.48. For his efforts, Craig won $5,000 and a guitar. It was Craig's 5th lifetime marathon and his second marathon victory, as he also won the 2010 Eugene Marathon. The next marathon for Craig will be the Boston Marathon this coming April.
