The other day my son Boyd (now 4 years old) and I went to the library and checked out our weekly pile of books including some old favorites and some never reads.  We always check out more than we can carry and get an extra weight workout in during this process.  Children’s books are one of my guilty pleasures. Mizuno Athletes Earn Marathon Top 10 US Rankings

 In its yearly rankings of US Women Marathon Runners, Track and Field News selected three Mizuno Racing Team Members for their top 10 for 2012.   Serena Burla is ranked 4th, followed by Renee Metivier Baillie in 6th place and Clara Grandt is in the 9th position.  In 2012, Serena placed 3rd (Top American) in the Seoul International Marathon in a time of 2:28.27 and finished 11th (Top American) in 2:33.43 at the Yokohama Women's Marathon.   In her debut marathon, Renee Metivier Baillie, finished 8th (Top American) in the Chicago Marathon in a time of 2:27.17 ...

The Expected and The Unexpected

"Chicked"

About a year and a half ago I was at a runner friend’s wedding reception grouped at the “runners and triathletes” table when I was introduced to a new term: chicked.  The conversation went something like this:Guy: You were saying you run on the trail off Old State Road by the kids train station; when do you run there?Me: Oh, usually Thursday mornings and on Tuesday afternoons.Guy: Ok. Serena Burla 4th and Christo Landry 7th At US National 20K Championships

September 3, New Haven Connecticut.   Mizuno Racing Teammates, Serena Burla and Christo Landry are both in a build up training phase for upcoming fall marathons.  Both have been putting in record mileage and were concerned about their ability to race on tired legs.  This year, the depth of the men's and women's fields was the best ever for the 35th edition of the US National 20K Championships.  Serena ran in the lead pack of 5 runners for about half the race and finished 4th in a time of 1:08.45.  Running a personal best time of 1:00.04 (4:50 per mile),...
