I’m new to running…just started in January of this year somewhat by force. I joined a 5 am work out group to kill time as I tried to beat traffic in the mornings before work and Wednesday was 5k day. Of course I didn’t start there…in fact I tried my hardest never to get there..but by mid February the trainer wasn’t having anymore of my excuses. My first two run/walks were grueling….pain everywhere and everyone kept telling me I needed “good” running shoes. So desperate to make Wednesday’s a tad less grueling and a little more bearable I set out to find a pair of running shoes. I’m not really sure how it happened, but I tried on a pair of Mizuno Wave Creation 13′s…the Orange/Yellow combo honestly wasn’t my fav…but the shoes felt so light and each step I felt like I was “springing” into the next. I bought them and excitedly put them on for Wednesday’s run/walk. Wow what a difference that was. For the first time I could really enjoy running without shooting pains in my heels, knees, hips. The run was feeling so good and I was so into my music..that I somehow didn’t see the curb. Yup..I literally FELL in love with these shoes that very run lol. That was 5 months ago. I have since bought a second pair (sangria/anthracite). I am now running (not run/walking) 4 days a week for a total of 13 miles and I’ve signed up for a few 5k’s and my first half marathon which is scheduled for next April in South Carolina. I’m transforming mentally and physically, in fact I’ve lost an amazing 40lbs since I started…I’m on this amazing journey and my Mizuno’s have been there every step of the way :)

Congratulations to you, fluettjm. Welcome to the world of running, it can and will take you many places you may never have thought you’d go.

I wasn’t an athlete when I was younger, and never had an interest in team sports (I still don’t). I came to running as an adult, and found that I really liked it, even though it was hard at first. I became a more serious runner over 12yrs ago, and have since run 12 marathons, 2 ultra marathons, and countless half marathons and other races. Along the way I’ve lost 45lbs since 2004, and am in the best shape of my life.

Good luck on your upcoming races.
