The New York Yankees won the 2009 World Series, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in six games. Mizuno Brand Ambassador Hideki Matsui earned 2009 World Series MVP honors for the pinstripes, batting .615 (8-for-13) during the Series, with three home runs, and eight RBI. Matsui tied a World Series record for 6 RBI in a game during Game 6, as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run and a double. He was the first Japanese player in MLB history to earn World Series MVP honors.
