Ichiro Suzuki Enters 2,000 Hits Club
Mizuno Brand Ambassador and Seattle Mariners Center Fielder Ichiro Suzuki recorded his 2,000th hit on Sunday, September 6th in Oakland against the A's. Leading off the top of the first inning, Ichiro drilled a double to right field, becoming the second fastest player in Major League Baseball history to achieve this historic milestone.
The Oakland crowd gave Ichiro a standing ovation. Ichiro is also chasing an MLB record ninth consecutive 200+ hit season. Through Sunday, he was five hits shy of the breaking the record he currently shares with Willie Keeler. "No matter the situation, I want to get a hit," said Ichiro. "Looking back to when I was first signed by the Mariners and I went to my first Spring Training, I was kind of criticized by the media. When I look back at that moment, there is meaning now."
Ichiro is one of five active players to get all 2,000 hits with the same organization, joining fellow Mizuno Brand Ambassadors Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves and Todd Helton of the Colorado Rockies. He is the 259th career player to reach 2,000 hits, and the 25th active player.
Ichiro plays with:
Mizuno Pro Maple MZP51 Bat
Pro Limited Batting Gloves
Classic Pro GCP51 Ball Glove
Mizuno 5'' Wristbands
“Congratulations Ichiro!”
