September 22, 2011

Tour Truck Services Mizuno PGA TOUR Staff Members at Over 30 PGA Tour Events Each Year

Norcross, GA (September 22, 2011) – Mizuno, a leader in golf technology and innovation, today unveiled its latest technological development – a brand new, state-of-the-art PGA Tour Workshop.  The workshop made its first appearance this week at Country Club of the South, for Mizuno’s JPX-800 Swing to Win Challenge Grand Prize event, where a consumer won a dream round of golf with Mizuno PGA Tour Staff Members Luke Donaldand Charles Howell III.  Mizuno’s new PGA Tour Workshop attended its first PGA Event at the 2011 TOUR Championship at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

This workshop services Mizuno’s PGA Tour Staff members, including Donald, Howell III, and Jonathan Byrd, throughout the season, providing custom adjustments and repairs for their equipment.  It is uniquely organized to carry every golf product Mizuno has on the market, allowing the technicians to create clubs for any player’s specifications.  Additionally, the workshop features a custom bending station that allows for adjustments to players’ clubs and a gripping station with an automatic grip solvent dispenser and grip vice, ensuring that any club can be built on location.  The workshop also has Mizuno soft goods, including apparel, hats, visors, and umbrellas, to assist the Tour Staff during the season.

In addition to building the clubs that the Tour professionals use each week, the workshop offers an opportunity for Mizuno’s research and development team to bring prototype clubs to the vehicle to test and get approval from their staff.  A custom designed office space at the rear of the workshop will also provide players with a place to relax while their clubs are being worked on.

“As we continue to customize and adjust clubs, and conduct product research for our PGA Tour players, we felt it was important to provide them with a full service workshop that matches the great technology and innovation engineered into each of our Mizuno golf clubs,” said Jeff Cook, PGA Tour Manager, Mizuno USA.  “Our players are on the road multiple weeks at a time, away from family and friends, and we wanted to have a comfortable space for them to prepare for elite competition they endure at each and every event, and our new tour workshop does just that.”

The new and improved workshop is 34 feet long and 11 feet tall, and offers 6 additional feet of length and 1.5 feet of vertical space than the previous workshop.  With double pop-outs and a custom designed SportChassis Truck, the new-and-improved workshop will allow Mizuno staff to better service player needs with an extra level of comfort.
