I have been wearing the Wave Rider for around 8 years and love this new update! The 18th version was a slam dunk and the adjustments made to the 19 have only enhanced the already great shoe. Great – glove like upper fit and nice ground feel, even with the added padding. This shoe makes me want to go out for a run every time I put it on."

So disappointed
Mizuno finally got back to the Rider that works with the 18. I was excited about the 19, as the upper is their best yet. However, as an avid rider wearer for over a decade, I am so disappointed that they messed with the mid sole. For the first time ever, I am getting calf pain, toe cramps, and my feet are falling asleep from the mid sole. It's now a 12 mm drop, and while the new cushioning feels good while trying them on in the store, once you run in them, you need to know this is a completely different run feel from the riders of old. Why change something that's worked so well? So frustrated.

Lots of plush and cusion!
As a Luke's Locker employee, I recently received a pair of the new Womens Wave Rider 19. Currently, I have eight miles on the shoe. You can definitely feel the added cushion due to more EVA foam. The Wave Rider 19 feels light, firm and responsive on the road. I like the fact that is has cusion, but yet you still get a feel of the road. The only draw back is that this shoe will not work for runners who have wide feet or a low arch. It is definitely made for neutral runners with a high arch and narrow to medium foot width. I like the stretch laces and the soft mesh of the upper material.

Comfortable fit!
I wore the Rider for several years up until the 17 at which point they entirely stopped working for me. These, however, feel like the shoes that I loved, with a much more comfortable upper and an improved cushion! While I loved the 16, I remember it taking a long time for me to break the shoes in and get them to be comfortable. These 19s feel like everything that I loved in the 16 once I managed to break them in, without the initial discomfort! Great shoes.

Great shoe!
I've worn Mizuno running shoes for a few years now and I love the new Rider 19. It is a nice light weight, low volume shoe. The width is a bit narrow, but that's my only complaint. Great for everyday running or racing!

Some changes, not sure I liek them
I've put about 10 miles on the 19s so far and I think I might go back to my 18s and milk them for a bit longer. The 19s have cushion but are much firmer than the 18s. Still the 19s are a huge improvement over the 17s. However, the 19s seem bigger in the heel. When running to stretching they have slipped a fit off my feet. The longer laces are good so you can try to lace properly to lock the heel down, but I am still have problems with the looseness. I have not tried my inserts (the 18s were too small for my inserts). It is always a guessing game each new pair of shoes.

Good Shoe
I got this shoe a few weeks ago and I really like it. It has a stiffness to the bottom of it that is good for the gym, but a softness to it that is good for when I am running. Also, I really like the color scheme. It has a great fit to it all around.

would never run w/o them!
Tried Saucony, Asics, & an expensive Nike which claimed to prevent shin splints with no relief. My husband has ran 13 marathons and 2 Ironman in Mizuno Wave Rider & bought me a pair. WoW! THANK YOU, Mizuno! I love my Wave Riders. I've convinced by brother, my parents & will continue to tell everyone it's the best shoe you can buy.

Back to an old friend
I wore Mizuno years ago then drifted off to a different brand. I decided to try it again and love my new shoes! They felt comfortable from the very first run. I'm not a speedster but I need a comfortable shoe that doesn't make my feet hurt so I can continue to run. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Any new colors coming out soon? These are hideous!
Veroferrari on Jan 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's Feburary, so when is the new colors going to be released? I agree..these colors aren't that good looking.
Is their suppose to be a strip of material in the center of the toe box in the Mizuno 19s? It almost reminds me of a piece of non sticky, loose tape. It is kinda of buggy, if you are not wearing a sock.
Rider15 on Nov 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The material in the Wave Rider 19 you are referring to is there for durability reason. It serves as extra support to prevent the mesh from pulling from the toe reinforcement and developing holes.
When will new colors come out? November 5th was previously stated but it's the 11th and I still don't see any new colors
Mscribne on Nov 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Black-White and Fuchsia Purple-Silver color options were the color options that we released on November 5th.
How does the Wave rider 19 for women compare to Wave rider 16. I could not wear 17 (to hard, stiff and narrow), and my last pair of 16s will need replacing soon. What is the wider fit? Is this available in Australia?
jane67 on Nov 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Our Wave Rider will provide a more similar feel to our older Wave Rider models like the Wave Rider 16's. If you like the 16's, we would certainly recommend trying the Wave Rider 19's.
Does anyone know how the sizing on these compare to other brands, specifically Asics?
jane m on Feb 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Our shoes will generally run true to size compared to other athletic shoes on the market. However, we would strongly recommend visiting one of our Mizuno Authorized Retailers to go through a full fitting to determine which size is best for you. Can a Wave rider be all black?
A shopper on Apr 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We would recommend checking our the White - Black (9000) color option for this shoe.
I'm still using wave rider 16, how will these new shoes differ? I have very high arches and my toes are starting to come through the mesh, also when I run my toes are numb... Does this mean the shoes are too tight? i hope you haven't changes too much.
Sharie on Nov 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There has since been some updates since the Rider 16 in the Rider 19. The updates include a new upper mesh for a more breathable feel, an added U4icX stobel lasting board for more comfort and cushioning underfoot, and an add mm of blown rubber in the forefoot for improved durability and softness. Your shoes could be too tight if your shoes are developing holes and toes are going numb. We would recommend trying the next half size up or trying the wide width option.
Can you tell me how this compares to the Mizuno Women's Wave Rider 17 Running Shoes? i'm been running in this for years and need to buy new sneakers
eas570 on Oct 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There has been some updates in the Wave Rider 19 since the Wave Rider 17. The updates include a new shape in the toe reinforcement to help with durability, a new upper mesh for a more breathable feel, a new U4icX strobel lasting board for a more comfort and cushioning underfoot, and an added millimeter of blown rubber in the forefoot for improved durability and softness.
The Wave Rider 17s fit me perfectly, but the 18s are a little too short, and 1/2-size bigger don't fit right. In terms of length, are the 19s more like the 18s or older models?
jeg34 on Oct 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Wave Rider 19 in length will be most comparable to the the Wave Rider 18. The Wave Rider 19 does come in a wide width, so we recommend trying this option if the Wave Rider 18 was to short. The wide option might provided you with the extra space your feet need.
Will there be more colors available later?
ToriMac on Oct 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Wave Rider 19 will be releasing new colors November 5th.
The 17s rubbed the skin off the top of my big toe and the 18s were too narrow and had a totally different fit than the shoe I used to love. Is this update more like past models? If so, I might come back to mizunos.
NicoleD on Oct 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There has been improvements made for the fit in the Wave Rider 19. We recommend trying these shoes on at a local running store to see how they feel. We also offer the Wave Rider 19 in a wide width if the normal width is feeling tight.
What is the heel drop in mm of the Wave Rider 19 for women, please?
COLLEEN C on Oct 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The drop of the Wave Rider 19 is going to be 12 mm.
Making the switch to Mizuno! Is this the best route for long run durability on dynamic terrain? I run 20-30 miles/per week and an average pace on steep terrain, road or solid trails. Medium arch heel strikerÉ Looking for med - advanced shoes.
Damaris80 on Oct 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Wave Rider 19 would be a great shoe for you. This shoe is great for mid to high arched runners that are looking for an everyday trainer. We recommend running on hard, solid surfaces with the Wave Rider 19.
